Last night at about 10:15 PM, the owner of the Osaka Ya Restaurant in the 800 blk of Naomi, had just closed for the evening. As the owner exited, he was confronted by a lone male black brandishing a handgun. The suspect demanded the victim's wallet and then fled the area on foot. During the investigation, Officers spoke with a potential witness and later determined that the "witness" was possibly an accomplice to the robbery. A 23 year old man from West Covina was arrested on suspicion of robbery and conspiracy. The other suspect remains outstanding.
In November 2007, Osaka Ya was the site of a tragic killing of the former owner, Jason Wei, during a robbery at the restaurant. There is no known connection to the two events at this time.
